Bar des barques

We drift, sometimes landing like a flat-bottomed sampan at a shaded terrace, as if guided by fate on a calm, sunny late afternoon, to anchor ourselves at the Bar des Barques. And hoping to witness some kind of social drama, sometimes present in these places, which might have played out on this tiled terrace. But no such luck. At that moment, the only sound was a mockingbird, the whisper of a light breeze, accompanied by a drink made from sprouted barley. The owner, whose affable manner was infectious, was perfect. The decor, irregular and cluttered, a mix of murals and the marks of regulars, bears the imprint of time, the patina of age, in short... a neighborhood bar...

The bar is a bit dreary. A little effort in terms of decor and background music would be welcome.
